Task 2. Greek Gods social media profile

Greek Gods as Instagram influencers.

The Greek gods have finally decided to get with the times and create Instagram accounts.

But they will need social media managers and they need your help. 

Task Overview:

The Olympian gods have hired you as a public image consultant. Your job is to decide how your Greek god should be promoted to modern mortals. And what they should hide.

You will create FOUR (4) social media posts. Each post must be strategic, not descriptive.

Step 1: God selection & justification  

Choose ONE Greek god.

Use evidence from two myths to describe why this god is interesting to represent.

Identify one challenging aspect to their character and how you will manage this in your campaign.

Step 2: The Four Posts  

Each post must serve a different purpose.

Post 1. Brand Introduction. How the god wants to be known.

  • Choose a title and explain how it will enhance the gods reputation.

  • Include the following caption. ‘I want mortals to remember me as…’

Post 2. A positive myth

  • Use an event from a myth that makes the god look powerful or good.

  • Explain why this myth was chosen for this purpose.

Post 3. Damage control

  1. Refer to a myth where the god behaves badly or makes a mistake.

  2. Frame the post as a justification or apology.

Post 4: The hidden truth

  • A post the god would not actually want mortals to see.

  • Reveal a fear, weakness, or consequence of their actions that is negative.

  • Explain why this post would damage the God’s image.

Step 3: Reflection

Answer two of the following questions.

  1. Which post best represents the real god, and why?

  2. Which myth did you choose not to include, and why?

  3. How does this god reflect ancient Greek values or fears?
