Task 2. Liveability comparison
Key question: How does Liveability in LEDC's compare to liveability in MEDC's?
To do: Compare the liveability of an LEDC city with an MEDC city.
Compare the liveability of a city in an LEDC (less economically developed country) with a city in a MEDC (more economically developed country).
Present your findings as a word document or slideshow.
Use the following plan as a guide to complete your investigation.
Step 1. What is your definition of Liveability?
List the top 5 factors that you think make a place liveable? (include images of liveability to support your examples)
Step 2. Choose a city in a MEDC and a city in a LEDC
What is an LEDC and what is an MEDC?
Include a map of both countries
Include five (5) fun facts about your two countries.
STEP 3 : Development indicator comparison table
Create a table of indicators to compare liveability in each country
Make a table comparing the development indicators of the 2 countries (use at least 5 indicators), summarise how liveability compares in the two countries.
Describe the possible reasons for the differences between the two countries
STEP 4: Country comparison
Compare the liveability of both countries for each of the following factors – use images to illustrate your discussion.
Population density for both countries
Compare the access to clean water for both countries
Compare the access to sanitation for both countries
Health services e.g. how many doctors per 1000 people
Include images of liveability and unliveability
Where do people live e.g. are there slums? Is housing affordable?
STEP 5: Conclusion
Briefly describe the major similarities and differences between the 2 countries
Suggest reasons for the differences in liveability.
