Task 4. The Big Humanities Project

Preparation for this year's Big Humanities Project has begun! It promises to be a busy few weeks before our exhibition in week 7.

Below is an outline of the competition criteria, topics and some resources to get you started.

Working in groups of no more than four.

You will be investigating ONE of the central ideas of Year 8 Humanities.

Project Outline:

You are to conduct research and produce an outline or solution to your question, which will contribute to the group investigation of your topic.

The following topics we examined in class are a good place to start.

  •  The Middle Ages

  • The Vikings

  • The Black Death

  • The Angkor Empire

  • The Mongols

  • Urbanisation

  • Coastal conservation

  • The GBR

  • The BNP

Your group must answer a question, below are some examples of questions to investigate.

  • An Historical and cultural tourism adventure to the sites of the Angkor empire

  • Reasons to join the religion of the Viking Gods

  • A guide to responding to the Black Death

  • The Mongol approach to world domination

  • A coastal or GBR conservation campaign

  • How to manage urbanisation

  • Friends of Belair National Park

  • Migration action network
