Topic 1: Development

  • Measuring and mapping human wellbeing and development.

  • Reasons for spatial variations between countries in selected indicators of human wellbeing. 

  • Issues affecting development of places and their impact on human wellbeing, drawing on a case studies from South East Asia.

 Topic 2: Disparities

  • Reasons for, and consequences of, spatial variations in human wellbeing in South Australia at the local scale 

  • Investigate programs designed to reduce differences in wellbeing in SE Asia or South Australia

Topic 3: Environment

  • Biodiversity and the human impact on rainforests

  • Sustainability and the human footprint

Topic 4: River Ecosystems

  • A comparative study of two inland water ecosystems in Australia (The Murray Darling Basin) and Asia (The Mekong Basin).
